Meet Chef Jarad McCarroll

Jarad McCarroll is the Executive Chef of Ocean Club Montauk at Montauk Yacht Club in The Hamptons.
Born in South Africa, Jarad fell in love with food and cooking from an early age.

At 22, he began pursuing his passion professionally and left South Africa to study the culinary arts in Switzerland under Chef Patrick Diethlm. There, McCarroll was awarded a coveted gold medal at the ZAGG international cooking competition there.

Upon graduating, Jarad’s pursuit of culinary excellence led him to The Ritz, London, where he honed his skills under Chef John Williams. He went on to win the Annual Award of Excellence and place as a finalist in the Young National Chef of the Year competition in London. Throughout his early career, Jarad continued to seek out opportunities to work with esteemed chefs such as Nuno Mendes, Mark Kempson, and Barry Fitzgerald.

In 2019, Jarad ventured to St. Barths and took the helm of the restaurant at Hotel Le Toiny. While at Le Toiny, the renowned European food guide Gault & Millau awarded Jarad the 2020 Chef of the Year for St. Barths. In June 2024, Chef McCarroll made his U.S. debut in Montauk, bringing his distinct style of cooking to Montauk, showcasing all the beautiful ingredients native to the Hamptons.
